Mini crochet ice cream cone keychain

It's summertime! That means hot, humid days, and of course some ice cream! Here's a fun crochet pattern for ice cream that will never melt.

This is an easy pattern that works up quickly and you can use any color yarn you'd like to make your favorite ice cream flavor. My favorite ice cream is strawberry, but I also love how a classic chocolate and vanilla cone with the cherry on top looks!

Materials

- worsted weight yarn in tan, red , and colors of choice

- size F/ 3.75 mm crochet hook

- safety pin or stitch marker to mark the start of each row

- yarn needle

- stuffing

- 4 inch ball chain or other keychain hardware.

Abbreviations

st = stitch

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

inc = single crochet increase

dec = single crochet decrease

rnd = round

sl st = slip stitch

* * = set of stitches to be repeated

( ) = total number of stitches in a round

rep = repeat

Pattern

Cherry

Starting with red yarn.

rnd 1: Ch 2, sc 5 in 2nd ch from the hook (5 st)

rnd 2: Sc in each st (5 st)

rnd 3: Skip 1 st, sl st (4 st)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Cone

Starting with tan yarn.

rnd 1: Ch 2, sc 4 in 2nd ch from the hook (4 st)

rnd 2: *Sc 1, inc 1* rep 2 times (6 st)

rnd 3: Sc in each st (6 st)

rnd 4: *Sc 1, inc 1* rep 3 times (9 st)

rnd 5: *Sc 2, inc 1* rep 3 times (12 st)

rnd 6: *Sc 3, inc 1* rep 3 times (15 st)

rnd 7: *Sc 4, inc 1* rep 3 times (18 st)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Small scoop - Starting with yarn in color of choice

rnd 1: Ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from the hook (6 st)

rnd 2: Sc 2 in each st (12 st)

rnd 3: Sc in each st (12 st)

rnd 4: *Sc 5, inc 1* rep 2 times (14 st)

rnd 5: Sc in each st (14 st)

rnd 6: In front loops, ch 2 and sl st in each st (14 st)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

Big scoop - Starting with yarn in color of choice

rnd 1: Ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from the hook (6 st)

rnd 2: Sc 2 in each st (12 st)

rnd 3: *Sc 3, inc 1* rep 3 times (15 st)

rnd 4: *Sc 4, inc 1* rep 3 times (18 st)

rnds 5-6: Sc in each st (18 st)

rnd 7: In front loops, ch 2 and sl st in each st (18 st)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail.

To Assemble

Sew cherry in center of small scoop. Stuff the small scoop and sew to the big scoop. Stuff the big scoop and cone and sew together. String the ball chain through the top of the ice cream cone.
