How to crochet an organizer for your tote bag: Pizza Edition

Who doesn't love a good tote bag? They come in all sizes and designs and make the best carryalls. The only downside is how MESSY they get. Everything is just in a clutter at the bottom of the bag. I knew I needed to make an organizer for my totes.

Insert the pizza pouch! I've been wanting to crochet something silly to hold small items like mints or tissues and decided that a slice of pizza would be perfect.

This mini pizza bag is just the right size to hold small items like hand sanitizer, mints, tissues, a pen, or meds. Plus the stuffed crust can hold your lip balm!

I also created a strap for the back that can be unbuttoned so you can transfer the pizza to any tote or bag. While I stuck with pepperoni, you could try making other toppings out of yarn or felt. My favorite pizza topping is actually sausage and mushrooms. What toppings would you add?

I had so much fun designing this crochet pattern, I may need to create a full sized pizza bag. While there's a fair amount of sewing, the pattern is pretty simple and straightforward, using mostly single crochet stitches.

I hope you make your own pizza pouch with this free pattern and if you crochet your own slice, don't forget to tag them @thepudgyrabbit on Instagram. I would love to see your pizzas!

Assemble

Take the bottom slice and fold row 1 to row 18. Stitch across the slice, forming a tube for the crust. Sew crust end 1 onto one end of the crust. At the other end of the crust, attach the bobble where row 1 meets row 18. Line up the loop of crust end 2 with the bobble and attach to the end of the crust with a few stitches at the top.

Weave the tails of the button to the center and use them to tie the button to the back of the bottom slice in the upper corner, under the crust. Slip the button through the buttonhole of the strap and then sew the other end of the strap to the bottom slice across from the button.

Sew the pepperoni to the cheese top. Line up the cheese top with the bottom slice and stitch together, leaving the top open.
